It's My Birthday and I'll Blog if I Want To

Oh, hi, hello there. Remember me? The girl who used to blog? Let me tell you a little about that girl. She had a baby and bought a house, see. Life got kind of crazy, in the best way possible, but it has temporarily rendered her too busy to get to a computer outside of working hours.

She continues to blog, all the time, albeit in her head. She thinks of outfits, and she thinks of you. Sometimes she even goes so far as wearing nice things, and taking a camera with her to work. Alas, that's as far as it usually goes. But if any day of the year is a day to wear something fun and write a blog post, isn't it on one's birthday?

Stellar Stripes

First of all, sorry for the long delay between posts! I just returned from a trip to Montreal and Quebec City, and I didn't have any time to blog while I was away. We had a wonderful vacation, but I am so happy to be back in my own home, in my own wonderful city!

I bought this skirt at a vintage shop in Montreal (the vintage shops there are fantastic!), and I couldn't wait to get home to blog it! I am looking forward to wearing it with my new Madewell boots, but since we are in the midst of our Indian Summer, I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather! I felt so glam wearing this skirt... too bad I was stuck at my desk nearly all day, and I was mostly only able to parade around my office. Next time I need to wear it on a Saturday!

Prep School

Last night Aaron and I ventured down to Montara Beach for a lovely dinner at La Costanera--a coastal Peruvian restaurant. If you're in the Bay Area, you've got to try it! The food and the ambiance were fantastic, and the view (lots of surfers and surf!) was great. We had one of those "Wow, we live in an amazing place!" kind of evenings. Earlier in the day we had ventured out to Wise Sons Delicatessen for breakfast, and then spent countless hours at the SF MOMA. If you haven't had a chance to check out the Stein's art collection, you're truly missing out. I guess I didn't realize how much I love Matisse (and apparently, how much Aaron doesn't!).

I've been in a major clothing rut, which I'm assuming most women can relate to. I've been looking through the September issues of Vogue, Bazaar, etc., and feeling totally inspired, but then when I look in my closet all I see is "blah." I decided to make an effort for our date last night...it was kind of a haphazard process getting dressed, and I ended up having to roll this skirt about 5 times to get it to the right length--maybe that's a sign I need to take it to my newly discovered tailor (Mrs. Ma in Chinatown, who hems for $6 a pop!). The shirt is my old standby; whenever I'm at a loss for what to wear, I pull this out of the closet, and somehow it always makes me feel really good about myself. It's a hand-me-down from my aunt who got it while living in Korea circa the 1980s. I tend to not be much of a "classics" kind of girl, but there's something to be said for a shirt that can hold its own for 30 years!!
