Fantasy vs. Reality: The Urban Picnic

Today we celebrated a friend's birthday in Duboce Park. I took photos of two looks--what I wanted to wear (fantasy: what I would actually wear in summer if I lived in a NORMAL climate), and what I ended up wearing (cold, harsh, San Francisco reality). Which look do you like better?

Fantasy: Shorts & Wedges

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand Reality:

In the end, I got to wear one of my favorite tops (Romeo & Juliet Couture), my favorite pair of jeans (Sold Denim, in a word--amazing), and my new favorite pair of boots (All Saints, purchased during Bloomingdale's Memorial Day sale), so it turns out, reality isn't so bad after all. I recently saw a blog page dedicated to all the celebs who own these boots, Miley Cyrus  included. I'm not quite sure what to make of that. A part of me feels pleased, and another part of me wonders: is it really a good thing I own a pair of boots worn by someone  half my age?

What did you guys get up to this weekend? Anything fun?

On the Street: Molly in Dr Martens

Just on the heels of my reading an article about the comeback of Docs, I run into Molly down on Haight Street, wearing a vintage midi skirt and Dr Martens. I adore everything about her look--her hair, outfit, shoes, tats.

Time to tap into your inner punk!

A couple of looks to get you started...

Simple. Adorable. A perfect work outfit for San Francisco summer (aka winter). Enjoy!

TOMS Eyewear

You all know my love affair with TOMS, so I wanted to dedicate a post to their newest philanthropic venture: eyewear! Here's how it works: you buy a pair of their (very cool) sunglasses, and they'll provide someone in need with one (or more) of the following:
  1. Medical Treatment
  2. Prescription Glasses
  3. Sight-saving Surgery
They're starting off in Cambodia, Nepal, and Tibet, with ambition to expand soon.

They have some really cute styles, and they even have a "Virtual Try On" on their website. You can upload your photo and "try on" different pairs. They have aviators, tortoise shell, and my personal favorite, matte frames!

Matte Olive / Orange
Gold/Dusty Rose Aviators

And now, in going with the TOMS theme, check out Wendy, whom I stopped on the street a few days ago because she looked so effortlessly chic in her TOMS wedges.

Does anyone own TOMS glasses yet? I'd love to see a picture if you do!

Modern Vintage

Let me first apologize for the quality of these pictures. My brand new camera is on it's way (thank you Amazon)! I should have it in hand tomorrow. This was three rounds of shots with three different photographers and one very bad camera. I can't wait to get my new one, so I can start taking more shots of strangers on the street!

I bought this vintage dress in Milwaukee a few years ago at a little shop called Lola's Affordable Fashions. I'm heading back to Milwaukee in a few weeks, and intend to see what other treasures I can find. I love how this dress keeps cycling into style. I couldn't wait to wear it with my brand new Ash Italia shoes (once again, a great deal on Shopbop.com). I now own three pairs of Ash Italia shoes that I have purchased from Shopbop over the years when they're on sale. Love!

How is everyone doing this week? Surviving after the three-day weekend? We're almost through the week!

San Francisco Magazine's Best of the Bay party 2011

The 2011 Best of the Bay party did not disappoint--there was so much delicious food, so many fun people, and of course, some great style. Everyone I photographed was so friendly; it turns out that taking blog photos at a party is a great way to meet a ton of people! A big shoutout to all the awesome  people I met, and thanks for proving all those naysayers wrong--there IS style in SF, thank you very much.

I have to start out with my favorite outfit of the night.

And here are a few pictures of my girlfriends and I.

Props to Eileen, who despite an injured foot, managed to look amazing.

Raina and Eileen, too sexy for this party.

Eileen, with Chef & Owner of Maverick and Hog & Rocks, Scott Youkilis (and our favorite bottle of whiskey!)

Here are a few of moi:

Happy 4th of July everyone!! Does anyone have any fun plans?
